Feng Shui for the Bedroom

Feng Shui and the Bedroom - Traditional Rules For Optimizing your Bedroom for Positive Qi

Feng Shui for the Bedroom

When it comes to Feng Shui, many people like to focus on the bedroom.

It is easy to see why, since it is a room where most of us spend a third of our lives doing certain activities, like sleep, relaxing and procreating. The bedroom is an integral part of an individual's  environment, therefore it is important to ensure there is harmony and a positive flow of Qi (or chi) in and around the space.

Feng Shui and Your Bedroom - the Bigger Picture

Many people think by simply moving a few things around your bedroom, you will have positive energy and luck in your life. Unfortunately, this limited view is misguided and will only yield minor results (if any) and often leads to disappointment.

The good news is you can still achieve positive Qi, and we are going to explore how you can use traditional principles in Feng Shui to positively influence your life.

Those of you who know me or are regular readers of Lok Tin Feng Shui will know I practice a traditional form of Feng Shui from the San Yuen Yuen Gua lineage.

The philosophy of the San Yuen Yuen Gua lineage aligns the fundamental rules of Feng Shui, which uses a holistic approach to manipulating your QI in your space positively.

Ultimately, this means you can make all the correct changes and adjustments in your bedroom to achieve the perfect flow of energy. However, if the rest of your house has not been considered or adjusted according to Feng Shui principles, you will not achieve the desired results.

It is this traditional approach of Feng Shui to consider the entirety of your space (house, kitchen, living room, bathrooms and the bedroom) that helps many of my clients and readers create positivity for themselves and their loved ones.

Feng Shui Tips for Your Bedroom

Hopefully, by now you understand the bedroom is only part of the Feng Shui strategy to achieve positive QI. However, that being said, there are definitely some rules or feng shui cures for the bedroom to follow to help with the flow of energy in your space. Let's take a look at some changes you can make today to improve your Qi.

1. Bedroom layout and bed location

The layout of the bedroom is one of the main aspects of Feng Shui in the Bedroom that is in your control. There are many rules when it comes to the bed's location. Note - I understand with particular bedroom's not all the rules can be followed, however the rules below should be followed as much as possible.

Try to locate your bed against solid walls. Ideally, the bed should not be next to a window, but if the window is located high, that is okay. It is also good Feng Shui practice to avoid placing the bed alongside the right side of the wall and avoid placing the bed head along the same side as the bedroom door.

Wherever possible, avoid any ceiling ornaments like beams and ceiling fans or lamps that are located above the stomach when you sleep.

2. Bedroom Accessories

Now let's talk about the bedroom accessories and furniture in the room.

Avoid placing heavy or tall objects on the right-hand side of the bed. To clarify, the right-side of the bed is identified when you are lying down on the bed as if you are going to sleep.

Some people like to keep an ottoman, blanket or storage box at the end of the bed.  If you fall into this category, ensure the box is not taller than the bed.

In this modern day, technology is infiltrating every aspect of our lives. It is good Feng Shui practice to avoid bringing these technological devices into the bedroom, such as phone chargers, TV's and WIFI modems. The frequencies can disrupt your positive energy and produce negative effects.

Last but not least, do not sleep next to any altars, god statues or power meters.

3. Declutter

It is important to maintain a clean and orderly space within your bedroom. Not only does this help with the flow of energy in your bedroom space, it also makes for a more pleasant environment for you to rest and relax.

One place that is especially important to declutter and maintain free of obstacles that will disrupt the flow of energy is underneath the bed. If you have too many objects under your bed, the energy cannot freely flow around you or your partner while you sleep.

If you and your partner are trying to have a baby, there are a few more tips I would recommend for  manipulating your energy for conception. I will discuss this in the next section.

4. Outside the Bedroom

You can also effect your positive energy with elements outside the bedroom. Such as clearing any climbing plants or vines that may be attached around the bedroom window.

It is also good Feng Shui practice to not allow your pets to sleep in the same bed as you. Therefore, set up a nice cosy home for your pets outside of your bedroom.

Fertility and Feng Shui in the Bedroom

Fertility problems and issues conceiving a baby are common reasons why I am asked to help couples with their Feng Shui.

Often, after I have performed an audit of their home and space, I find the issues lie outside the bedroom and require rectifying to adjust the fundamentals of their Feng Shui.

If you are having issues with conceiving a baby, there are a few things you can do to help positively influence your Qi. Firstly, follow the suggestions I have detailed above. Then observe these rules:

  • after ensuring underneath your bed is decluttered, do not clean, dust or vacuum under the bed. Doing any of these actions will disturb the energy and will negate the changes you have made.
  • read my article on Feng Shui & Fertility Symbolism. In traditional Feng Shui there are many symbols that represent fertility and can help attract energy that will promote fertility and conception of a baby.

I have detailed more Feng Shui Tips to Get Pregnant in my other article. If you are trying to have a baby I recommend you check it out.

Key Takeaways for Feng Shui and the Bedroom

Implementing sound Feng Shui principles in your bedroom is key to improving your overall health and happiness in life. I have detailed some of the important changes you can make in your bedroom for optimizing your Qi.

However, after reading this article, you should be well aware that making changes in your bedroom is only a small part of your overall Feng Shui strategy. To achieve the best results in your life, you will need to consider your entire living environment (including the forms and shapes around your house).

I am confident once you open your mind to the bigger picture perspective of the San Yuen Yuen Gua Feng Shui principles, you will achieve positive Qi in your life.
